Resume

I am an alumni of the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, having majored in Management Information Systems.

I would describe myself as a “tinkerer”, as I love tinkering around with new tech and learning about things. This tinkering hobby has lead me to building my own home lab, consisting of storage, game, media, database, and web servers. With every new tool or software I tinker around with in my home lab, the more I find myself enjoying managing and working on servers and computer equipment. Being a home lab, there’s plenty to troubleshoot; thank goodness I also enjoy that too!

Outside of technology, I love the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, and watching nature have become some of my favorite pastimes. By preparing for new adventures, I do a lot of research, which has also led me to a hobby of studying geography.

If it’s something interesting, unique, or fun, I love learning it!

Desktop Support

My primary role in UNC Charlotte is to provide Desktop Support for the Belk College of Business. In doing so, I have managed Windows, MacOS, and Linux devices in an enterprise setting, having to configure and fix active directory queries and logins.

Business Analytics

A large part of my college curriculum involved analyzing data using tools such as SAS, Python, and Excel. As an IT Associate, I was charged with taking inventory of the college’s coffee supply, taking note of the most popular coffees. Using Excel, I created an inventory sheet that took in the daily inventory levels, calculated the usage in numbers and percentages, alerted the user when a stock level was reached that required a resupply, and condensed all this information into an easy to read format.

Documentation

As an IT Associate, documentation is a necessary process everyday. From completing tickets to writing and reviewing technical documentation, it has been a crucial part of my job.

For each ticket, our goal is to provide a well detailed account of what has happened and what has been done and communicated to fix the issue.

For technical documentation, our processes regularly change, requiring documentation to either be updated or made new again. Below is an example of documentation I created for our computer wiping process.

Business Application Development

As part of my major, I have created multiple applications for various purposes. Most of these applications are simply to get an understanding of how application development works, but through learning these methods, I have begun brainstorming for potential applications I could develop for my homelab and other personal use cases.

Customer Service

Having worked at Bojangles and currently at UNC Charlotte, I have an extensive amount of Customer Service experience. From informal service to executive level experience, I believe myself to be well rounded when it comes to interacting with customers.

Working at Bojangles, I typically had to provide service to dozens of customers at a time, in a highly fast paced environment, with customers ranging in age, gender, nationality, and culture.

Working at UNC Charlotte as an IT Associate, I typically had to provide service to students, staff, faculty, executive level members such as the Dean of the Belk College of Business and a Provost of the University, as well as high-level guests.

Server Administration

As an IT Associate, I have been tasked with managing a web server, as well as a Proxmox server. This task has allowed me to get professional experience with ensuring maximum uptime and reliability, creating virtual machines, and backing up virtual machines to local and networked storage.

In personal experience, I run a homelab, consisting of multiple servers. I run services such as Networked Attached Storage, a Proxmox hypervisor, docker containers, media servers, databases such as MySQL, and web servers including WordPress and nginx.

WordPress

That’s what you’re currently using to view this webpage! Did you know that large organizations still utilize WordPress, such as NASA? I bet you didn’t realize that WordPress is NASA tech! In all seriousness, at UNC Charlotte, we also use WordPress for faculty pages, allowing for ease of modification.

Network Infrastructure

As a homelabber, I of course know how to make my own ethernet cables. I also have a decent understanding of VLANs, subnets, general networking, and network cybersecurity. I have also studied for the Cisco CCNA certification, but have not completed the certification.
